Top 7 Wondrous Architectural Monuments In Ukraine



Ukraine is rich in architectural monuments but among this abundance there are seven which you must see.
Number one is the Fortress of Belgorod – Dniestr in the Odessa Region. This fortress is one of the few monuments built in the 13th – 15th century remained. It is located 46 kilometers away from Odessa on the right bank of the Dniestr River. It consists of four parts and a citadel built by Genoese people in the the 13th century is the oldest.

Number two is the Vorontsov Palace located in the heart of Alupka. Construction of the palace began in 1830, according to a project by English architect Edward Blore (1789–1879) and the palace was supposed to be Prince Mikhail Vorontsov’s summer residence.
#3. Lutsk High Castle, also known as Lubart’s Castle which is in the Volynsk Region, is the most prominent landmark of the city of Lutsk in Ukraine. It began its life in the mid-14th century as the fortified seat of Gediminas’ son Liubartas (Lubart), the last ruler of united Galicia-Volhynia. The current castle, towering over the Styr River, was built mostly in the 1340s, although some parts of the earlier walls were used.
The Kamenets-Podolsk Castle is our number four and it is located in the Khmelntsky Region. This architectural gem is over a thousand years old and it can be found in the catalogue of the British National Museum. Its architecture which unites best western and eastern traditions fits into the nature perfectly. The castle consists of minaret buildings, a town hall, an Orthodox church and a Polish Catholic church. Its beauty has been attracting tourists from all over the world for many years.
#5. The Khotyn Fortressis a fortification complex built in the 13th-14th century and is located on the right bank of the Dniester River in Khotyn, Chernivtsi Region.
#6. The Metropolitan Palace is the gem of Chernivtsi. The residence represents a group of three buildings surrounding a beautiful square. In the center there is a metropolian’s residence with a chapel. On its sides there are a seminary and a guest house. The architectural ensemble is finished with a church, its domes and towers.
The seventh and the last one is the Kachanivka Palace. It will take you an hour and a half to two hours to get there from Kiev by car. The complex consists of 18th – 19th century palaces and parks which bring you back into the wonderful world of earldoms
